Meet the Best Fall Prevention & Home Safety Specialist Dedicated to Helping Older Adults Stay Safe and Independent

About Kenneshia “Kay” Cross

My name is Kenneshia “Kay” Cross, and I founded Home Safety Consultant with one mission: to help older adults prevent falls and remain safe, independent, and confident in their home.

My passion for fall prevention began with my grandmother. Watching her navigate mobility challenges made me realize how quickly independence can be compromised by environmental hazards that are often preventable. What could have been avoided with the right assessment, equipment, and guidance became the catalyst for my career focus.

Today, I serve families throughout St. Lucie County and the Treasure Coast. I am a licensed and registered Occupational Therapist with a Master’s degree in Gerontology and a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. I am also a home modification and accessibility specialist with a designation as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), through the National Association of Home Builders, and a Certified Fall Prevention Specialist (CFPS).  My 20 years of clinical training allows me to assess not just the home, but the interaction between the individual, their medical conditions, mobility status, daily routines, and environmental barriers.

Falls are not random events. They are predictable and often preventable when risk factors are properly identified. My approach is clinically grounded, individualized, and focused on reducing risk while preserving dignity and independence.

If safety is a concern, prevention should be the priority.
