Meet the Best Fall Prevention & Home Safety Specialist in The Treasure Coast Dedicated to Helping Older Adults Stay Safe and Independent
ABOUT KAY

My name is Kenneshia “Kay” Cross, and I founded Home Safety Consultant with one mission: to help older adults prevent falls and remain safe, independent, and confident in their own homes.
My passion for fall prevention began with my grandmother. Watching her navigate mobility challenges made me realize how quickly independence can be compromised by environmental hazards that are often preventable. What could have been avoided with the right assessment, equipment, and guidance became the catalyst for my career focus.
Throughout my career as an Occupational Therapist, I have worked directly with individuals recovering from falls, fractures, hospitalizations, and mobility decline. These experiences revealed a powerful truth:
Most falls do not happen randomly. They occur when health conditions, mobility limitations, daily routines, and environmental hazards intersect. Understanding and addressing that interaction is the key to preventing them.
My work is dedicated to helping older adults remain safe and independent in their homes while giving families peace of mind that their loved one’s environment truly supports their health, mobility, and daily routines. In addition to my clinical experience, I have pursued advanced training focused specifically on aging, home safety, and fall prevention
My credentials include:
- Licensed & Registered Occupational Therapist
- 20+ years clinical experience across nursing homes, home health, assisted living, and private residences
- Master’s Degree in Gerontology
- Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
- Certified Fall Prevention Specialist (CFPS)
- Medicare Part B provider
This combination of clinical training, aging expertise, and home accessibility knowledge allows me to analyze the relationship between an individual’s health conditions, mobility, daily habits, and environmental barriers to identify the hidden risks that often lead to preventable falls.
Falls are rarely caused by one factor alone. They occur when health, mobility, habits, and the home environment interact in ways that increase risk — which is why a clinical, comprehensive approach is essential.
